On this episode of AMC Movie Talk (Thursday October 23rd 2014) we discuss the following: AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Trailer First look at Depp in INTO THE WOODS... Video Rating: 4 / 5
my main criticism is that Thor was feeling like they wanted him to be Batman. the cape, him holding Tony on the neck. and i agree with John, the lack of Humor was a detractor.
Am I the only one who thought the Avengers 2 trailer was meh? Yes, there were some cool images. But I'm just not freaking out the way I thought I was going too.
Thanks, AMC! :) Just when you think Marvel has peaked it hasn't!! :) I'll just correct Campea, if i may, by adding modern film viewers aren't stupid, they want excitement & thrills, note Captain America 2 or Guardians of the Galaxy (both with quite dark undertones and massive hits), NOT generic goofy stuff, like TAMSP2 or The Rock's Hercules (goofy failures). So this looks easily like a 2 billion film!! :)
You guys should have dedicated a whole show to talking about A2AU. I agree, no one smiles in the trailer, but if this is the lead up to WWHulk than no one is going to be smiling anyway. Just because the Avengers world is brighter doesn't mean something can't be taken seriously and portrayed darkly. Remember Spider Man 3: it should have been the darkest of the three, but it did not take the possession of Peter Parker by the symbiotic seriously. Sorry Spider Man 3, not picking on you, just using you as an example.
Glad that we are finally having a good villain(aside of Loki) in a Marvel movie.Even DC with a lot less movies, has better villain overall than all the Marvel movies combine.
I loved the Age of Ultron trailer. The use of "No Strings On Me" from Pinocchio was ge(frickin')nius. Well played, Disney.
My only complaint is that the Avengers are fighting one another. Again. What the hell? They already did that in the last movie, and if the rumors about Civil War are true, then they're gonna be doing it for that storyline as well. How is this phenomenon supposed to hold any special significance when it seems to happen every time they're together anyway?
I wasn't that impressed with the trailer, they didn't show me anything that got me off my seat. TDK's trailer is an example of how to get people off their seats.
I was just thinking how stupid it is to say that comic book movies need to be darker or that they have to have a theme or big message for it to be GREAT. That's so dumb...like when people criticize the first Avengers just because it wasn't dark, or just because it had jokes and what not. It was a comic book team up film. not every comic book movie has to have philosophical messages or a dark tone..that's just foolish to believe. Avengers 1 was only meant to be a superhero team-up film that's it. Why does it have to be philosophical gritty and gloomy like TDK? (i love TDK trilogy) We shouldn't rate a COMIC BOOK movie lower than what it should be just because it doesn't have criteria that extends to other genres. It's like saying a comedy film wasn't that good because it didn't have action. Or an action film HAS to have comedy. It doesn't make sense right? Yea I know...you have to think about what type of movie it is and does it fill the attributes for that genre....asking it to be more than what it has to be is silly
Quicksilver in DOFP was very amusing, but my problem with him is that he barely resembled the character in the comics other than his powers. Quicksilver is pretty much supposed to be the superhero version of Draco Malfoy and his creepily, yet endearingly close companionship with his twin sister is a huge part of his character. DOFP Quicksilver is one of those characters that people will enjoy seeing on screen, but will ultimately have little to no investment in. When people finally see Age of Ultron the comparisons are going to start to favor the MCU version for his personality, his story and his relationship with his beloved sister.
I disagree John. Just because Avengers was light hearted and fun doesn't mean that they should have started with that for the trailer for this movie. I think that they are intentionally setting the tone for us. Yes there will be humor in the movie, but the overall tone is going to be more bleak simply because of the dire situation everyone is going to be in. It's a continuation, but it's not the same movie. And I love it for that.

I really want to see all the people who complained about the death and
destrucion in MAN OF STEEL do the same for Age of Ultron!!!

DC fanboys must've all passed out in their parents basements after seeing
this AWESOME trailer.
Boom! Civil War Story Line
Boom! DC Film Slate
Boom! Avengers 2 trailer
Your move DC lol
I guess DC will have to attempt to top this or fanboys will get upset lol.

I may still like the movie, but the trailer didn't do anything for me like
Days of Future Past or Man of Steel did.

Where's john schnepp??
Age of Ultron trailer was awesome. Still not a fan of Quicksilvers
look...Deja Vu?
That trailer is unreal, didn't reveal too much but just enough to keep
everyone of their seats, this films one that will easily hit 1.5billion.

the trailer was okay it wasn't mind blowing are anything. I think these
guys are exaggerating.
Well I've seen the trailer 42 times and ATJ doesn't make that face.
It's actually funny, this trailer is layered with little Easter eggs (it's
so dense) :
in the beginning quicksilver and Scarlett witch are in the crowd.
Before we see Andy Serkis, cap is in modern clothes in a 1940's club.
In the ballet part, we see a baron von strucker looking guy in the back and
a red headed girl. Notice how black widow said she was a dancer?
And there are lots of women at the avengers party. Jane foster maybe?

where was the tease of the black panther i didnt see that in the trailer
my fave iconic shots on the trailer are when Thor drops his hammer and when
Hulk and Black Widow touch hands
